Rita Garris says:

Can that machine be used on Berber carpet?

J Arndt says:

Great video, TYVM!

atticus9799 says:

Next time, try renting the “Wide Track” machine. It is a few dollars more, but worth every penny because you can do almost twice a much with that larger tank as you can with the standard one.

SpllenigBee Wniner says:

Thanks for posting this video! After watching I went to rent a rug doc and used your tips (laundry detergent, a bit of bleach, and a pot of stove heated water). Worked perfectly!! My carpets look and smell great! I guess the only downside is having to refill the tank often, but hey, it was worth the $21 rental!

reneyc723 says:

1946pepper says:

sorry I did not look at the date it was filmed why do these YT videos POP up as first in the row? I assume snce this was first on my screen it was current… have 4 animals in my house and no carpet only rugs that are macine washable. My Bad.

Ladyshystar says:

Thanks much for that tip. We live in Ky and the summers are brutal for ticks and fleas. My dogs are small (3 and 6 lbs), and rarely go outside except to do their Biz.
I have spent a small fortune on pills and treatments and NOTHING HAS WORKED. I have never heard of this though.
Where do you get it? On-line?

atticus9799 says:

We actually got rid of the carpet over a year ago. We use borax in the doorways and to dust the dogs with in the summer along with the “Little City Dogs” flea control and monthly treatment. Our dogs don’t have fleas anymore, neither do our cats. I can’t say enough about them!

Achdus5772 says:

You guys have generosity of spirit. I hope you realize how much you are appreciated…

Achdus5772 says:

After rescuing so many animals over the years I learned carpeting is not the way to go. I pulled up all the carpet in the house we’re living in and have replaced it with laminate and other places tile. It’s so much more easy to keep clean and sanitary – especially now that my house is like a geriatric ward for animals with two 21 year old cats, a 15 year old dog and a 13 year old rabbit…

Debbie Doud says:

Noreen, I have 3 small dogs and a family of 3. I am OCD about cleaning. My friends call me “anal”. Our carpet cleaning water always looks like this. The upolstery on our furniture, too. The cleanest of clean homes have this dirty water when their carpets are cleaned. It is the nature of carpet. I worked in a floorcovering store for 12 years and have plenty of stories.
We removed all of the wall to wall carpeting and have only laminate & wood floors now. The only way to go. Thanks for sharing.

Andrea Longo says:

Good for you! Our dog has total free reign of our house. She’s like one of the kids….she’s a little king Charles cavalier and she is soooooo cute I couldn’t imagine her being confined. Now, if she would quit using the upstairs carpet as her pee spot………ugh! Thankfully I have your recipe/method to clean it up!!! Seriously a god sent as I have battled those stains and bought expensive urine cleaners for months now!

atticus9799 says:

Our animals go where we go, they are not limited to where they can live in their house. We took up that carpet over a year ago. you will see that this video is over two years old. We are all much cleaner with the laminate/wood floors for sure and we are healthier too I believe because the dust does not collect in the carpet.

1946pepper says:

Do you have woosfoors in th ? I se you have em in he Kitchen/Dining. Rip up that carpet and finish those wood floors ( If needed) It is much cleaner and more healthy and environmental safe that any carpet. I work for an ICU pulmonary Physician and he recommends all his Patients to get rid of the carpet.

bebebutterfield1 says:

Bissel Proheat I meant.

bebebutterfield1 says:

Great vid Rick! You go boy! I just want to tell you I got a product from Pet Smart called Urine Destroyer and I add a cup to my Bissel Preheat carpet cleaner and it’s a miricle cure for pet stains and odors. It’s made by Natures Miricle. Not only does it destroy stains and odors but it kills the pheremones that cause the dog to pee in the same area over and over. We have a weiner dog who was peewee pad trained when we lived in a appartment and sometimes she misses the pad.

bigjacdaddy says:

great tip ! I have houses that I rent out and that would help when getting them ready for the next family, yeah hardwood is best we have replaced a couple of houses with that..

Andrea Longo says:

THANK YOU for this video!!!!! We have a puppy and found out she has been going on the carpet at the top of the stairs!!!!!! We had our carpet professionally cleaned and needless to say, this formula worked WAYYYYYY better! ~Andrea~ Dallas, Tx

Mary Rigby says:

wow rick and noreen great tips i always have mine done professionally in both of my homes but for those who yuse a rug doctor this is great really does a great job great job rick keep up the great work always nice to see your ideas w

tjbollman1 says:

Give ’em hell, Noreen! You and Rick are here helping people every single day…for Free! We know who has our backs.

Ladyshystar says:

I hate carpet for this very reason. If you have kids and pets it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep it clean. We recently moved into a house with the same kind of carpet that you had. I would love to tear it out. I would have not have thought of the bleach. Just curious, have you guys ever tried adding borax? It is supposed to do wonders at keeping down fleas.

atticus9799 says:

BTW, you can rise the carpet with the rug doctor if you do a pass with hot water and distilled white vinegar. We don’t need to pay an expensive carpet cleaning service when we can rent a machine for less than what it would cost to do one room. Additionally, I can purchase a good commercial machine for what it would cost me to have a professional service come to my house twice. In this economy it is more important to teach people how to do things themselves and not have to rely on scheisters.

atticus9799 says:

You assume a lot. My carpets are dirty because I have a family and pets and that carpet was very old before we tore it out in favor of wood floors. My carpet was NEVER “crunchy” when we finished and our shoes were clean because we wipe our feet before coming in the house. The way we have cleaned the carpet worked for us. I find it rude that a channel who is obviously a carpet cleaning service would take the time to down our process in order to promote theirs. Consider yourself blocked.

Carolann Scheff says:

thanks for sharing – u were very halpful – do u handle all the chores with such efficiency? Lucky wife……….lol

andyrc33 says:

Thanks, worked like a charm.

jmyout68 says:

Thanks for the tips! Can anyone comment re: how much carpet-drying time is required, please. Thx!

mearron715 says:

Rick awesome video, we have a puppy too that has lots of accidents. I was very happy to see your carpet is similar to mine (Berber). I am so glad I ran across this video we just rented a rug doctor today. I will follow your instruction and post the result. 🙂

BarclayTheDevilDog says:

Barclay’s Mommy here… I just finished doing my carpets using your heated water/laundry detergent/bleach combination — and they came out beautiful! On my last pass, I used just plain heated water, to rinse as much soap out as possible (and to reduce the bleach smell). I can’t thank you enough!!! Now poor Barclay is going to have to do his butt-scootin’ boogie to get the “clean” smell out of the carpet again! 🙂

KellySchmoo says:

Thank you so much! I just used the Rug doctor as you advised, (except I used more liquid Tide and didn’t dilute it, just added like I was doing laundry for each tank) and my carpet is like new and smells so clean. I had to empty the tank alot more then I thought I would, almost every 7-10 minutes, I went really slow over the carpeted areas, however, totally worth it. The boiling water and the bleach are what did it. Thanks!

ducklandwikeno says:

I used dishwashing soap with phospate in it . The dirt stains come right out , it desolves the dirt with the phospate in it . You can buy cassade comerical grade soap with phospate at gfs food service store . the box has some white coloring on it . But it worked .

dragonpd says:

Hi Rick, I own a RugDoctor I tried your way on a cream colored carpet, 1st mix was your’s which didn’t pull much dirt out, 2nd mix I used RugDoctor cleaner with a cup of bleach and heated the water on the stove, the 2nd mix did more deap down cleaning, thanks for the tip though it was worth a try, I’ll stick with what I know.

wendyquiet72 says:

Wow!! Old carpet or not that looks great!

Patty Garcia says:

I use this method but pretreat any stains first with diluted laundry detergent(I use Gain) and after steam cleaning I go over the carpet one more time using 1 cup extra strength white vinegar to the HOT water to remove any soap residue which will attract dirt.

atticus9799 says:

We didn’t use oxyclean. We used regular bleach and Liquid laundry soap. just happened that we had oxyclean that day but we usually use purex. It doesn’t matter what kind you use. It all works the same.

cdeanv says:

which oxyclean product are you using? i am going to clean my carpets next week and want to follow your insightful instructions.

cdeanv says:

how long does it take for the carpet to dry? good idea on the oxyclean soap and bleach

thebishop1977 says:

Hey Rick….I just wanted to let you know I followed all your instructions and our carpets turned out GREAT….I did use scented bleach so we didn’t have any bleach smell in the house.

Thank you guys very much for sharing your tips with all of us!
